The Gender Justice Summit is a biennial program that seeks to address the most pressing issue impacting gender equity in the moment.

The event is hosted by the Maine Women's Lobby Education Fund and is a core program of the nonprofit organization to achieve its mission of helping Mainers develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage in feminist, anti-oppression-based public policy advocacy and civic life.

This year’s event is Envisioning Our Shared Power, a look at how anger can harness power and joy can sustain us in taking action

This year we are thrilled to welcome our keynote speaker, Rebecca Traister, acclaimed feminist journalist and author of the book “Good and Mad: The Revolutionary Power of Women’s Anger.” To get folks thinking about this topic we are hosting book discussions leading up to the event. We have a variety of presenters to explore these themes including, embodied equity cultural broker, René Goddess; and award winning author and poet Arisa White.

  • Better understand the importance of anger as a response to injustice, and its role in shaping individual and collective power.

  • Identify where they find joy and connect this to their advocacy and activism work.

  • Learn from groups and experts across the state on how they are building power and shaping our resistance. And

  • Consider how you will continue to be effective change makers.
