The Summit

About the Summit

Every other year, the Women’s Summit on Economic Security brings Mainers together for training and networking across a diverse spectrum of lived experiences to explore policy, politics, and social change. The Summit connects people to the tools and changemakers in their own communities.

In 2023, Maine had big wins for caregivers - paid and unpaid, professional and personal. This has a significant impact on women, LGBTQ+, BIPOC communities, low income workers and all types of families. These wins do not solve the issue of care and caregiving in Maine, but they are a step in the right direction to creating a true care economy.

In this afternoon event, we will engage Mainers in programming about this year’s policy wins and activities to create the roadmap to the future of care in Maine. The summit will focus on the intersection of the care economy and gender justice. We hope to inspire and create space for dialogue and radical visioning for people to identify actions and goals that will make Maine a place that cares.

Summit Goals

Together we will:

  • Envision a future where we all are able to give and receive the care that we need.

  • Learn how current policy efforts and wins are stepping stones in the road to the future of care in Maine.

  • Connect our community in shared efforts toward a caring care economy for Maine.
